Impulse Sealer & Heat Sealer
Maintenance How-To

Pack Secure suggest that normal routine maintenence of your Hand Impulse Sealers will help insure its continued reliable service.

In most cases, all basic maintenence can be performed on Hand Impulse Sealers in less than 15
minutes with nothing more than a standard #2 Phillips screwdriver and a
few drops of oil.

This is a good time to use a Replacement Kit and change out the Wires and Teflons

Under normal operating conditions, the Teflon cover, tape and element wire
should last quite awhile depending on how the Impulse Sealers is used.

BEFORE DOING SERVICE WORK TO YOUR
UNIT MAKE SURE IT HAS BEEN UNPLUGGED !

1. After unplugging the unit, loosen the screws that secure one of the
chrome retainer strips. Remove the screws and chrome strip on the
opposite side.

2. Remove screw that secures plastic end cap near timer dial and set aside.

<img src="http://pacnseal.com/cgi-bin/image/templates/rek3.JPG" alt="How-to maintain your impulse sealer or heat sealer unit. Removing the element by removing the tension on the retaining stud.

3. To remove element, use screwdriver to gently pry spring loaded stud towards the center of unit and remove element.

4. Check the tape strip that sits below the element. Look for signs of
wear such as burn holes or charring. The old tape should just pull off.
Make sure the new tape is properly aligned.

5. Installation of replacement parts is simply the opposite of the
disassembly process. Here, the new tape strip has been installed.

6. The new element has now been installed and the unit is now ready for the new no stick cover to be installed.

7. To install the new cover, slide the strip under the remaining chrome
retainer and set in position making certain the strip is fairly centered
left to right. Reattach the remaining chrome strip making sure not to
over-tighten any of the screws. Just snug them down.

Reinstall the end cap and put a couple drops of oil on the hinge and your sealer is ready to go !!!

4.
Carefully begin heating the bag evenly around with a heat gun. Be
careful not to apply too much heat in one area for too long as the bag
can split.

5.
Once you have the shrink bag drawn down fairly close to the item, begin
applying heat to areas that need to be tightened up a little until the
bag is as smooth as possible without causing it to burn or split.

It
takes a little bit of practice to get the knack of how the heat gun
& shrink bag react to each other. A little practice should have you
wrapping like a Pro in no time!

The heating elements are usually not pre-heated. When the materials are placed in the heat sealer, they are held in place by the lowering the jaw of the sealer. An electric current then heats the heating element for a specified time to create the required heat. The jaws that hold the material in place are then released and the seal is complete.

The timer that goes into an Impulse Sealer is used to make sure that the seal is made correctly. The total time can be adjusted depending on the thickness of the material you are trying to seal. The seal will be incomplete and weak if heat is not applied long enough. Too much time and the plastic will burn and smoke.

The other two parts are the Teflon Cover and Tape. Teflon is a brand name by DuPont for the official term PTFE. In an Impulse Sealer the Teflon is used to distribute heat and cover the bare wire from direct contact with the plastic. Over time the heat will burn through the Teflon and need to be replaced.

Good seals are a result of time, temperature and pressure for the correct clean material. The seal can be used for many reasons including weather proofing, packaging, sealing food for freshness and many more.

    By Steven L Madsen III

Pack Secure wants you to be informed,

From the BBB Wise Giving Alliance

Donor Alert: Giving to Pacific Tsunami and Japanese Earthquake Victims

Be Sure Disaster Relief Charities are Legitimate and Equipped to Help

March 14, 2011 - Arlington, VA - As we learn more about the 8.9-magnitude earthquake that hit near the northeast coast of Japan on Friday, the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance warns that-as occurred following the tsunami in 2004, Katrina in 2005 and the earthquake in Haiti just last year-fraudulent charities will likely emerge to try and scam donations from well-meaning Americans. BBB WGA urges givers to make sure their donations will go to legitimate and reputable charities and relief efforts that have the capability to help those in need.

"Whenever there is a major natural disaster, be it home or abroad, there are two things you can count on. The first is the generosity of Americans to donate time and money to help victims, and the second is the appearance of poorly run and in some cases fraudulent charities," said Rosemary Nye, President and CEO of the BBB, serving a local spokesperson for the Wise Giving Alliance. "Not only do Americans need to be concerned about avoiding fraud, they also need to make sure their money goes to competent relief organizations that are equipped and experienced to handle the unique challenges of providing assistance."

BBB Wise Giving Alliance offers the following seven tips to help Americans decide where to direct donations:

Rely on expert opinion when it comes to evaluating a charity.

Be cautious when relying on third-party recommendations such as bloggers or other Web sites, as they might not have fully researched the listed relief organizations. The public can go to www.bbb.org/charity to research charities and relief organizations to verify that they are accredited by the BBB and meet the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Be cautious when giving online.

Be cautious about online giving, especially in response to spam messages and emails that claim to link to a relief organization. In response to the tsunami disaster in 2004, there were concerns raised about many websites and new organizations that were created overnight allegedly to help victims.

Find out if the charity has an on-the-ground presence in the disaster impact areas.

Unless the charity already has staff in the affected areas, it may be difficult to get new aid workers to quickly provide assistance. See if the charity's website clearly describes what they can do to address immediate needs.

Find out if the charity is providing direct aid or raising money for other groups.

Some charities may be raising money to pass along to relief organizations. If so, you may want to consider "avoiding the middleman" and giving directly to charities that have a presence in the region. Or, at a minimum, check out the ultimate recipients of these donations to ensure the organizations are equipped to effectively provide aid.

Be wary of claims that 100 percent of donations will assist relief victims.

Despite what an organization might claim, charities have fund raising and administrative costs. Even a credit card donation will involve, at a minimum, a processing fee. If a charity claims that 100 percent of collected funds will be assisting earthquake victims, the truth is that the organization is still probably incurring fund raising and administrative expenses. They may use some of their other funds to pay this, but the expenses will still be incurred.

Gifts of clothing, food or other in-kind donations.

In-kind drives for food and clothing-while well intentioned- may not necessarily be the quickest way to help those in need - unless the organization has the staff and infrastructure to be able to properly distribute such aid. Ask the charity about their transportation and distribution plans. Be wary of those who are not experienced in disaster relief assistance.

Look for details when texting a donation.

Beginning with the earthquake in Haiti, it's become common to send a text to make a donation. Make sure you understand the amount to be donated, and whether there will be any service fees charged to your account. Be sure the offer clearly identifies which charity will receive the donation, then check out the charity.

For more information or to schedule an interview with the local BBB Wise Giving Alliance spokesperson, contact Rosemary Nye, 757-531-9400, Ext. 200.

About the BBB Wise Giving Alliance

The BBB Wise Giving Alliance produces reports on over 1,200 nationally soliciting charitable organizations. The BBB Wise Giving Alliance does not rank charities but rather seeks to assist donors in making informed judgments by providing objective evaluations of national charities based on 20 strict standards.
When a business offers you free shipping think to yourself is it really free shipping or am I paying for the shipping in other ways, maybe I am paying shipping just I can't see it, like a higher priced product or a "Service / Handling Charge". Shop around and get prices without free shipping and see what the bottom line is, comparison shopping is the best way to get the lowest bottom line price.

Yes there are a few larger companies that can sell you an item and offer free shipping simple because their shipping volume is so great, but if you buy from a larger company you then have to look at the other side of that business. I am saying to look at the customer service of such a large company, are they going to be friendly and easy to contact and deal with if you need help, how knowledgeable are they on all the product they offer.

You will only find a few items at Pack Secure that come with Free Shipping, with no hidden charges, These item are low cost and easy to ship so free shipping is "Free". At Pack Secure we only charge what we pay for shipping no up charge or service charges are added.

Nothing is more annoying than seeing a great online deal upended by high shipping and handling costs. Shoppers abandon almost half of their potential purchases at checkout, and high shipping charges are the number one reason.

In response, stores have stepped up free shipping promotions and formed "shipping clubs," which charge an annual fee to cover postage on all your orders, no matter how small. The most recent entrant, ShopRunner, launched last week with an offer of unlimited shipping at a consortium of stores, including Toys "R" Us, The Sports Authority and GNC -- for $79 per year. And Borders and Barnes & Noble launched clubs earlier this year as part of their store loyalty programs, priced at $25 and $20, respectively.

A break on shipping seems like a welcome respite, but the math works out solidly in favor of the retailers. Stores that offer free shipping -- whether as a regular policy, a prepaid club or a special promotion -- sell a lower average number of items per order, but consumers come back more often, says David Bell, a professor of marketing at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Also, joining a shipping club discourages shoppers from comparison shopping. "You're going to go where you've already got free shipping," says Karen Machleit, a marketing professor at the University of Cincinnati. The psychological effect is that you'll actually spend more with that retailer in the long run, and maybe in the short-term, too, if you're adding filler items to push your order above the free-shipping threshold.

To avoid overspending, three questions to ask yourself before you pay for "free" shipping:

How Much Do I Really Spend There?

Before you sign up, review your online and in-store purchases from the retailer in question -- and its competitors -- over the past year. If there's a convenient store nearby, or if sales and price differences led you to spread recent purchases among several retailers, a shipping club doesn't make sense.

There's also the matter of the shipping charges you're supposedly saving. To get an idea, you could back through your order history on the retailer's site and add up what you paid last year, says Machleit. In general, though, for sites that already offer a low minimum for free shipping, you'd have to make lots of small, single-item purchases to recoup the fee. At Amazon.com, you'd have to order 27 DVDs with a $2.98 shipping charge per disc, or 16 video games with a $4.98 shipping charge, to cover the site's $79 annual Amazon Prime membership.

What Are the Other Perks?

Many clubs offer more than free shipping. For $20, members of Overstock.com's Club O get a 5% discount on most items. At Borders, a $20 membership also includes 40% off hardcover bestsellers. (Members of the store's free rewards program get 30% off.) And at SmartBargains.com, the $10 Smart Shoppers Club gives members access to new and marked-down merchandise 48 hours in advance. Free shipping -- on most items -- is standard as part of all three programs.

But "most items" does not mean "all items." For example, Sears' free shipping club -- which costs $79 and is called ShipVantage -- doesn't cover items that are delivered rather than mailed. That excludes many of the items that are the most expensive to handle, such as mattresses and furniture. Items from third-party sellers, like used books sold via Barnes & Noble, aren't covered, either.

What Am I Really Getting Into?

Free trials are common shipping club enticements, but as soon as the period expires, you'll be charged, says Luke Knowles, the founder of free-shipping-focused coupon site FreeShipping.org. Most clubs give you 30 days to ask for a refund. But by signing up, you may also be agreeing to auto-renew -- they'll keep charging you until you explicitly tell them not to. Check the policy so that you know whether the company will contact you before charging you again in a year, or whether it's up to you to closely monitor your credit card statements.

Pack Secure understands that most people don't have a lot of time to waste looking around trying to place an order on a website.

We looked around our site and decided try to make an easier shopping experience while visiting www.packsecure.com
We found we could make our website more user friendly by adding Radio buttons and eliminating the Drop Down menu when selecting a product. By doing this you only need to locate the product your looking for on the menu and click the Radio button next to it to make your selection,
If you need more than one you change the Quantity and click add to the cart.
Thus saving you time in the end for the more important thing you need to get done.

Pack Secure continues to offer a large selection of
